Frequently Asked QUestions

What makes the HappySmile® Automatic Toothbrush better than a manual toothbrush?

The HappySmile® toothbrush is designed to provide a deeper, more consistent clean than a manual brush. It uses high-speed oscillations or sonic vibrations (depending on the model) to remove significantly more plaque (up to 100% more in some studies) and clean effectively along the gumline. Your hand simply cannot replicate the thousands of strokes per minute an electric brush delivers.

Does this brush have a built-in timer? How does it work?

Yes, all HappySmile® electric toothbrushes feature a Smart Timer. Dentists recommend brushing for two minutes, and our timer ensures you meet this target.

  • It typically runs for the full two minutes, automatically turning off (or signaling a stop).
  • Many of our models also include a Quad-Pacer, which gently alerts you every 30 seconds, prompting you to move to a different quadrant (section) of your mouth for an even, thorough clean.

How often should I change the replaceable mouthpiece of my automatic toothbrush?

For optimal cleaning performance and hygiene, we recommend replacing your HappySmile® brush head every three months, or sooner if the bristles appear frayed or worn. Worn bristles are less effective at removing plaque. Check the indicator bristles on your brush head; if they have faded halfway, it's time for a replacement. There are brush heads available for purchase in our store.

Can I use the HappySmile® Automatic Toothbrush if I have sensitive teeth or gums?

Absolutely. The HappySmile® brush is safe and gentle for sensitive areas.

  • Many of our models include a "Sensitive" or "Gum Care" mode, which uses a lower intensity and gentler vibrations.
  • We also offer soft-bristled replacement heads designed specifically to protect enamel and gums while still providing a superior clean.

What is the pressure sensor feature, and why is it important?

  • Brushing too hard can damage your gums and tooth enamel. The HappySmile® features a Pressure Sensor that detects when you are applying excessive force. When you press too hard, the sensor will typically light up (e.g., red light) and/or automatically reduce the speed of the brush to protect your mouth. This ensures you are cleaning effectively without causing harm.

6. How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?

How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?

The HappySmile® uses a high-performance rechargeable lithium-ion battery. A full charge typically lasts for at least 2 to 3 weeks of regular two-minute brushing sessions (twice a day). It comes with a compact charging base or USB charger for easy recharging. Just place the handle on the charging base when the battery indicator shows it is low.

Is the HappySmile® Electric Toothbrush waterproof?

Yes, the HappySmile® toothbrush handle is designed to be waterproof (usually rated IPX7) and safe to use in the shower or to rinse under the tap for easy cleaning. However, the charging base is not waterproof and should be kept dry.
